PFN material model

1. Introduction

This page contains the OghmaNano material model for PFN (C50H66N2).

PFN polyfluorene conjugated polyelectrolyte, alcohol/water-soluble cathode interlayer

The model is written in Lua and provides simulation-ready material parameterisations for use within OghmaNano. For documentation, licensing, references, and information about the scope and accuracy of these models, see the material scripting documentation.

-- ============================================================================
-- IMPORTANT MODELLING NOTE
-- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- PFN is an ultrathin (typically <5 nm) alcohol/water-soluble conjugated
-- polyelectrolyte used as a CATHODE INTERLAYER, not a photoactive or bulk
-- transport semiconductor. It works chiefly by forming an interfacial
-- dipole that LOWERS the cathode work function (improving electron
-- extraction and energy-level alignment); its own electron mobility is
-- poor, which is why only ultrathin films work (thicker films block
-- extraction). It is most realistically modelled as a work-function shift /
-- interfacial dipole at the cathode rather than as the bulk layer described
-- by the (wide-gap polyfluorene, representative) parameters below.
