System Requirements

OghmaNano is lightweight compared to many commercial TCAD packages, but larger 3D simulations will benefit from more powerful hardware. The following guide outlines the minimum and recommended requirements.

Operating System

• Windows: Windows 7 (64-bit)
• Linux: Ubuntu or Debian are supported through a deb package.

Hardware

• Processor: Any modern x86 CPU
• Memory (RAM):
  • 8 GB – sufficient for small 2D or teaching examples
  • 16 GB or more – recommended for large 3D simulations
• Disk space: ~250 Mb for installation plus extra for simulation results
• Graphics: A low-power GPU with working drivers is sufficient. Most modern laptops have integrated GPUs that are fully adequate. Issues generally only arise when graphics drivers are missing or not properly installed. If the software does not display correctly, check that your GPU drivers are installed and up to date.

Optional Software

• Python 3: For scripting and automation of simulations

Internet Connection

An internet connection is needed to download updates and access the online materials database.
